Routine appointments are easily booked online at any time: Apply for an account to book appointments online. They can also be made by calling 01334 476840 after 08:30am or by dropping into the Practice reception.
When making an appointment you can choose to see the Doctor or Nurse of your choice. Read our Who’s who guide to help you to work out who to see. The availability of routine GP appointments is currently within 7 days, although this may be longer if the GP you wish to see is away from the Practice. If the Doctor or Nurse you wanted to see is not available then you could choose to make an appointment with another member of the Practice team. If you feel it is medically important that you are seen more quickly, then please phone the surgery and we will either give you an appropriate appointment, or we will arrange for a clinician to call you back, who will then assess the urgency of your problem – See Triage for more information.
Appointments are 10 minutes long but you may ask for a longer appointment if you feel it necessary. Appointments are available between 08:30am and 17:40pm Monday to Friday.
When attending for an appointment at the surgery we ask that you are punctual. We do our best to run to time although sometimes delays are unavoidable due to emergency presentations or complex issues. If you are late or miss your appointment altogether you will be asked to reschedule for another time or you may be able to wait until the end of the surgery to be seen. Please be aware that the car parking at St Andrews Community Hospital is restricted. We advise, if possible, that you use public transport, walk or cycle. If bringing your car please leave yourself plenty of time to find a space.
Can your problem be dealt with over the telephone? Do you simply need a word with the doctor? The Practice offers telephone consultations with the doctors in addition to conventional appointments. If you feel your problem could be dealt with in this way please call the Practice and ask for a telephone appointment. The receptionist will confirm a suitable contact telephone number. The doctor will call you as close to the appointment time as possible and certainly within 20 minutes of the appointment time, barring emergencies. If you should need a face-to-face consultation thereafter, an appointment can be arranged for you.
The Practice offers Extended Hours appointments for any patient who finds it difficult to consult during normal hours. These sessions run from 07:30 – 08:30 and 17:30-19:45 throughout the week. Please telephone for more information. Due to the limitations of this service and the limited number of appointments on offer we would respectfully request that you only ask for an appointment during these times if you genuinely cannot make it to the surgery during normal hours.
If for any reason you are unable to attend your appointment please let us know in advance, with as much notice as possible, so that we can offer the appointment to another patient.
