ST3: Learning Needs
You will likely have addressed many areas of weakness now and it is sometimes difficult to work out areas of deficiency. If you have not worked in a specific area for example Paediatrics, A&E, Psychiatry or Gynaecology then this might be a useful area to look at with targeted modules – discuss this with your supervisor and create appropriate PDPs.
This will also be useful in preparation for the CSA – what case would you dread coming up? This should be an area to focus some study.
The RCGP has various useful tools for assessing learning needs including PEP – Personal Education Planning. This is a useful tool to highlight areas of weakness – it might be worth saving for slightly later in your training as you are likely to have a pretty good idea of these in the early stages! Worth a look anyway as can be useful for preparing for the AKT.
