Hospital Information

Whilst you are in hospital posts, you will have a Clinical Supervisor. This person is responsible for your ongoing support and training whilst in that post. It is important that you identify them as soon as possible, and make contact. You should expect a meeting with them within 2 weeks of starting the post. This should NOT just be casual chat in the corridor after a ward round. The following documents outline the Clinical Supervisors responsibility and form the basis of the curriculum you should try and address. It would be helpful if you printed this and took it along to your meeting (as they may not be fully aware of their responsibilities). As we don’t get notified of your Clinical Supervisors identity, we would ask that you let us know this ASAP. We will try and contact them and introduce ourselves. If you have difficulty meeting with them, or are unhappy about the support you are being offered, you should contact the deanery or ourselves immediately, and we will get in touch with them. You have a service commitment to the department, but they have a training commitment to you, and we need to ensure this is fully embraced.
