ST1: Learning Needs

You will meet regularly with your supervisor to discuss and plan your learning needs. The ePortfolio is a useful place to store these plans – in the PDP section – you need to complete some of these anyway for your 6 monthly reviews. We would suggest trying to think of a few key areas addressing areas of weakness each 6 months and working towards these during the placement. You can sign them off once you have completed them.

Remember to put some more PDP entries in at the end of each 6 months for the next 6 months prior to your 6 monthly review.

The RCGP has various useful tools for assessing learning needs including PEP – Personal Education Planning. This is a useful tool to highlight areas of weakness – it might be worth saving for slightly later in your training as you are likely to have a pretty good idea of these in the early stages! Worth a look anyway as can be useful for preparing for the AKT.
